Hacks for Common Home Repairs

Whatever the task may be, maintaining your house in its best shape seems to be such a challenge. However, you should not be overwhelmed by it all. Sometimes all you need is a little creativity! You can turn these common repairs into light work with these incredible hacks:

Screw It

Every DIYer and handyman has a Phillips-head screwdriver in his or her toolkit. But sometimes tools like this just go missing right when you need it. If this happens, don’t fret! You have something in your kitchen that could easily save the day! Your vegetable peeler can be a good substitute for your screwdriver. Just insert its tip into the screw head and turn it as you would. It works wonders!

A Hole New Idea

Don’t you just hate the sight of those nail holes in your otherwise perfect white wall? While the go-to solution of most homeowners is to find a wall décor or a poster to hide them, you just can’t do that for every hole there is. What you can do is to take out your white toothpaste tube, get a dollop of it and rub it into the hole, blot the excess with a rag and you are done!

Let’s Bond!

We usually use superglue for crafts and indoor repairs, but did you know that it is also effective for outdoor fixes? Yes, you can use this strong adhesive to plug holes in your pool floats, garden hoses, and more.

On-Screen Hero

If you have clear nail polish at home, you need not worry about your window screens. Adding polish to some slits and screen tears that are beginning to show. This will keep them from unraveling further.

Floor It!

If there are dents on your wood floor, you may still be able to fix them (unless the wood has really broken apart underneath the surface). All you need to do is soak a cloth in warm water and wring it out. Find the dent and place the warm cloth right on top of it. Now get your iron and have it on medium heat setting as you iron the cloth until it dries out. You’ll be surprised by the result.

There you go! Some simple home repair hacks that really work! It is always good to have a little know-how when it comes to fixing things around the house.
